PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing material for vehicle roof part capable of absorbing the noise in a cabin in a range from a low/medium frequency to a high frequency without increasing thickness of the material. SOLUTION: A plate-like sound absorbing material 7 comprises a first sound absorbing material part 10 provided on an outer peripheral part to absorb the noise of high frequencies and a second sound absorbing material part 11 singly provided on an inner peripheral side of the first sound absorbing material part 10 to absorb the noise of low/medium frequencies. The noise of high frequencies is absorbed on the outer peripheral part of a roof panel 5 by the first sound absorbing material part 10, and the noise of low/medium frequencies is absorbed on the inner peripheral side from the outer peripheral part of the roof panel 5 by the second sound absorbing material part 11.
