PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HSM control program, an HSM control unit, and an HSM control method for managing the generation of the backup of name space in HSM efficiently. SOLUTION: The HSM control program for allowing a computer to execute the control of HSM having a primary storage 1 and a secondary storage 2 allows the computer to execute a generation information creation step for creating generation information that is information including the generation number of backup for each backup of HSM, and a history management step for managing name space information that is information related to the name space for each file in HSM and an effective generation number range for showing the range of the generation number where information related to the name space is effective using the generation number created by the generation information creation step as a name space information history.
