PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dual clutch type transmission having two input shafts connected to clutches respectively, an intermediate shaft, and an output shaft, which transmission has a clutch capable of separating the intermediate shaft from the output shaft, and can reduce the axial length of the transmission by omitting one of the gear trains in speed changing stages. SOLUTION: A direct connection clutch C3 is arranged between one input shaft S2 and the output shaft S4 of the dual clutch type transmission, and further an intermediate shaft connecting clutch C4 for carrying out and stopping the transmission of power is arranged between the intermediate shaft S3 and the output shaft S4. When the intermediate shaft connecting clutch C4 is disengaged, a speed changing stage from the input shaft S1 to the output shaft S4 via the intermediate shaft S3 and the input shaft S2 can be configured. As a result, the length of the transmission can be shortened by omitting one gear train. Further, when the power is directly transmitted from the input shaft to the output shaft via the direct connection clutch C3, the rotation of the intermediate shaft S3 is stopped by disengaging the intermediate shaft connecting clutch C4 to prevent the excessive agitation of lubricating oil caused by the idle running of the intermediate shaft S3.
