PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mirror surface plate for hot embossing molding which is improved in releasability from a resin substrate after thermal transfer and has a long life. SOLUTION: The mirror surface plate for hot embossing molding which is suitable for molding a substrate for an optical recording medium 0.3 mm or below in thickness comprises metal substrates 1a and 1b formed from stainless steel (SUS 430), high hardness release layers 2a and 2b covering the surfaces of the metal substrates 1a and 1b, and an intermediate layer 3b preferably containing titanium Ti. Each of the high hardness release layers 2a and 2b has a Vickers hardness (JIS B7725) of 2,000 (Hv) or above, is formed from a titanium compound such as titanium nitride TiN.
