OPTICAL POINTING DEVICE AND DATA TRANSMISSION METHOD THEREOF

An optical pointing device and a data transfer method thereof are provided to analyze an optical situation inside the optical pointing device, and defect of an image sensor and electronic parts correctly by transmitting image data collected in the optical pointing device to a host computer directly without detaching an optical pointing device chip from a PCB(Printed Circuit Board). An image sensor(42) generates an analog signal by receiving an object image, and outputs digital image data and a moving value by calculating the moving value from the digital image data. An inputting signal analyzer(180) analyzes a command type and outputs a first/second operation control signal by receiving an image signal request or stop command from a host computer(300). A data I/O(Input/Output) controller(170) generates an image data output command for outputting the moving value in response to the first operation control signal, and outputting the digital image data in response to the second operation control signal by receiving the digital image data and the moving value. The computer interface(200) receives/transfers the image signal request or stop command to the input signal analyzer, and transfers the moving value and the digital image data having the different transfer protocol to the host computer directly.
