A relay station, a radio base station and a communication method are provided to prevent a reception period of receiving radio signals from the radio base station from being overlapped with a transmission period of transmitting radio signals to an MS, thereby improving the efficiency of radio channels and effectively using the relay station. A relay station(RS) includes a control unit a transmission processing unit and a reception processing unit so that a reception period of receiving radio signals from a radio base station(BS) and a transmission period of transmitting radio signals to an MS(Mobile Station) can not be overlapped with each other. The control unit controls the transmission processing unit and the reception processing unit to set continuously the transmission period of transmitting the radio signals to the radio base station in the transmission period and set continuously the reception period of receiving the radio signals from the radio base station in the reception period.
