摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fluctuation of engine speed due to sudden change of torque converter load in range switching operation in a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission with a torque converter. SOLUTION: When a shift range of the automatic transmission is changed over, transient torque converter load is estimated based on a transient torque converter load estimation model different from steady state torque converter load estimation model. The transient torque converter load estimation model is a model combining a transient correction term estimating change quantity of transient torque converter load with the steady state torque converter load estimation model. The transient correction term almost linearly changes according to engine speed change rate. Demand torque necessary for controlling engine speed to a target engine speed is calculated based on torque converter load estimated based on the transient torque converter load estimation model, and actual engine speed is controlled to the target engine speed by controlling an operation state of the engine 11 based on the demand torque.
