发明名称 Improvements in air-depolarized electric cells
摘要 768,054. Batteries. UNION CARBIDE & CARBON CORPORATION. Jan. 19, 1955 [Jan. 20, 1954], No. 1618/55. Class 53. An air depolarized alkaline cell has a polystyrene container 10, a U-shaped zinc anode 14 connected to a terminal member 12 projecting through the container bottom and a carbonaceous cathode 24 having an apertured metallic terminal cap 46. The two electrodes 14, 24 are separated by an alkali-resistant pad 18 located in the electrolyte. The cap 46 has two orifices 48 for the passage of air into the electrode 24. The container cover 22 is provided with a recess to accommodate a resinous sealing composition 28. The zinc electrode 14 may be integrally united with the container 10 by moulding the latter around the said electrode. The stem of the terminal member 12 passes through a sealing gasket 16 located between the anode bottom and the container. The cathode 24 is preferably made of carbonaceous powder united with thermoplastic resin, e.g. polyethylene. The electrolyte comprises zinc oxide and sodium hydroxide in water and the solution is immobilized by the addition of starch.
