Zeolite catalyst of ZSM-5 structure for selective cracking of alkenes and process for its preparation

In the present invention, there is disclosed a zeolite catalyst of ZSM-5 structure for selective cracking of alkenes wherein the invented catalyst having four or more carbon atoms in a chain is characterized by low concentration of acid proton active centers at relative low molar ratio of Si :Al. Disclosed is also a process for preparing the above-described catalyst wherein the preparation process is characterized in that an ammonium salt, silicic binder, plasticizer and water are added for partial ion exchange to the ZSM-5 zeolite having small primary crystals predominantly in sodium form and containing small amount of an ammonium cation, such as tetrapropylammonium cation, the obtained mixture is then molded, dried and subsequently activated at high temperature in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas.
