Fibres of difficulty-soluble copolymers of acrylonitrile having little or no affinity for normal acid dyestuffs are dyed from an aqueous bath containing a metalliferous acid dyestuff and a water-soluble alkali metal salt, e.g. sodium chloride, sulphate, nitrate or thiocyanate or potassium nitrate, at a temperature above 100 DEG C., e.g. 125 DEG C. Specified copolymers are those of acrylonitrile with methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate or vinyl acetate. Specification 693.245 is referred to.
