An apparatus and a method for converting an open vector graphic API, a mobile terminal, and a recording medium recording the method are provided to convert the data of a scalable vector graphic format into the open vector graphic API, thereby providing various contents to the mobile terminal. An apparatus for converting an open vector graphic API(Application Program Interface) comprises a data parsing unit(110), an open vector graphic API script generating unit(120), and a raster image data outputting unit(130). The data parsing unit divides the data of a scalable vector graphic format according to the property of data. The open vector graphic API script generating unit extracts the syntax of an open vector graphic API format corresponding to each of the divided data to generate an open vector graphic API script. The raster image data outputting unit generates and outputs raster image data corresponding to the open vector graphic API script.
