Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a wound element (1), in which a laminate (2) including an anode, a cathode having a cathode activating substance layer containing Si or Sn and a separator arranged between the former two is wound around a core (3). At the second and subsequent windings, the laminate (2) is so wound that the distance between the cathodes in the radial direction of the wound element (1) may satisfy the following formula (1). At the first winding of the wound element (1), the laminate (2) is preferably wound to leave no clearance between the laminate (2) and the core (3).
