<p>A cooling water cleaning method and cooling water cleaner in which maintenance cost is reduced as much as possible by eliminating troublesome cleaning work for taking out an electrode from an electrolytic cleaning cell and removing scale in the electrolytic cleaning cell. In a water cleaning method or a water cleaner for cleaning water by feeding water to be treated between opposing electrodes, applying a DC voltage between the electrodes and electrodepositing cations in the water to be treated on the electrode on the negative electrode side, titanium is employed on the positive electrode side and aluminum or aluminum alloy is employed on the negative electrode side as the electrode, and a current sufficient for applying a voltage causing dielectric breakdown of an anode oxide coating formed on the surface of the electrode on the positive electrode side is fed between the opposing electrodes. Scale generated by and adhering to the negative electrode side is automatically exfoliated and removed through electric corrosion on the negative electrode side.</p> |
