A method for fitness measurement by measuring signals from a living body is provided to simplify fitness measurement and shorten a time of the fitness measurement by resulting fitness of the living body by comparing measured data and reference data stored in advance. A method for fitness measurement by measuring signals from a living body comprises the steps of: inputting information on a user through an input part of a fitness measurement apparatus; performing a first measurement of a stable-state heart rate before an exercise by using a heart rate measurement part; allowing the user to perform a predetermined amount of exercise in accordance with signal sound repeated by the fitness measurement apparatus after the first measurement of the heart rate; performing a second measurement of the heart rate after the exercise by using the heart rate measurement part; allowing the user to take a break during a predetermined time in accordance with the signal sound from the fitness measurement apparatus; performing a third measurement of the heart rate after the break by using the heart rate measurement part; and determining fitness of the user by comparing first, second, and third heart rates with pre-stored fitness information data.
