PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that many resources are occupied when being provided with a dedicated internal font database. SOLUTION: An adjustment and control unit for gray-scale font uses character code information 33 specifying a character, character size information 35, and threshold information 37 as data for adjusting the gray scale of the character so as to acquire vector data stored in a gray-scale font database 11a, and a bit map font (gray-scale font bit map data 47) generated (rasterized) by a font image data generator (rasterizer) 45 is output to a drawing unit 51. Character color information 39, halftone information 41, and background-color information 43 are output directly to the drawing unit 51 included in a graphic driver 83. A character to be displayed by the drawing unit 51 is generated based upon the bit map font and color-related data of gray-scale font data, and output to a display unit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
