<p>A portable terminal and a location detection method for the same are provided to reduce the number of parts and the number of wires by performing the tri-state detection of an activation part through two magnets and two single-output magnetic sensors, two magnets and one double-output magnetic sensor, and two reflecting plates and one photoelectric sensor. A portable terminal(10A) comprises an activation part(13), an arm part(12), and a location detection unit. The activation part(13) has a display part(20). The arm part(12), installed at a base part, rotatively supports the activation part(13) within the rotation range of an angle of ±90 degrees for a rotation center position. The location detection unit, which performs the detection of the rotation position of the activation part(13), comprises a pair of magnets(17,18), a pair of single-output magnetic sensors(15,16), and an operation unit. The single output magnetic sensors(15,16) detect the magnetic fields of the magnets(17,18). The operation unit obtains the location of the activation part(13), based on the signals outputted from the single-output magnetic sensors(15,16). The magnets(17,18) or the single-output magnetic sensors(15,16), separated from the rotation center position at an angle of 90 degrees for the rotation center position, are installed at the arm part(12). The magnets(17,18) or the single output magnetic sensors(15,16) are installed at the activation part(13) so as to face the other ones when the activation part(13) is located at the rotation center position.</p> |
