METHOD AND APPARATUS OF BALANCING CELL IN BATTERY PACK OF HEV

A method and an apparatus for balancing cells of a battery pack in hybrid electric vehicles are provided to prevent imbalance in the battery pack by performing the cell balancing in view of a voltage deviation of battery cells and a balancing allowable current during traveling. A temperature, an electric current and a voltage variation are measured(S210), and then it is judged whether the voltage variation is deviated from a predetermined range(S220). If the voltage variation is deviated from the range, it is judged whether the measured electric current is deviated from a balancing allowable current range previously stored, so as to correspond to the measured temperature(S230). If the electric current is deviated from the balancing allowable current range, cell balancing is performed(S240).
