MOUNTING STRUCTURE STEERING COLUMN

A mounting structure for a steering column is provided to prevent legs of a driver from being injured by efficiently absorbing impact transferred to the driver through the steering column from a vehicle body. A mounting structure for a steering column comprises a steering column mounting bracket(5) attached to a cowl cross member(4). The upper portion of the steering column(3) is coupled with the steering column mounting bracket. The steering column mounting bracket is coupled with an upper steering column mounting bracket(8) attached to a cowl top panel(6). The upper steering column mounting bracket comprises two pair of brackets provided with an upper rib and a lower mounting bracket. The upper rib has an L shape and is provided with front and rear flanges. The lower mounting bracket is attached to the cowl top panel. The lower mounting bracket has a front flange, a rear flange and an upper rear flange.
