A tumbling unit such as a casting shake-out unit, rotary media drum, sand reclaimer or the like includes a cylindrical outer shell (3) and a cylindri cal inner liner (5). The inner liner (5) is formed of a series of interfitti ng segments (9). The segments (9) each have an inner surface, an outer surfa ce, side edges (17), a front edge and a back edge (19), and two vanes (21) e xtending from the outer surface. The side edges (17) of the segments (9) hav e a groove (25) and the grooves (25) of neighboring segments (9) define a ch annel between the segments (9). A pin (27) in the channel urges the neighbor ing segments (9) apart to form a tight interfit among the segments (9) in a row of the liner (5). The pin (27) conforms in shape and size to the cross s ection of the vanes (21), and align with the vanes (21) of the adjacent segm ents (9) to form a continuous spiral upon the outside of the liner (5).</SDO AB> |
