A method for manufacturing a flexible printed circuit board is provided to prevent a pattern from being damaged or scratched by protecting the pattern from the contact with the outside by using a coating layer of a thin film. A method for manufacturing a flexible printed circuit board includes the steps of: applying a pattern(21) divided into a rigid area(21a) and a flexible area(21b) by patterning a copper foil(20) deposited on a polyimide film(10); pasting a coverlay film(30) on the pattern; covering a mask(40) on a lower part of the polyimide film corresponding to the rigid area; applying a coating layer(50) by performing super thin-film coating of the entire polyimide film including the pattern, the coverlay film, and the mask; and completing the flexible printed circuit board by removing the mask and adhering a stiffener(60) to the removed part.
