PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release film which is suitable for an industrial adhesive tape and an optical pressure sensitive adhesive sheet and has high water repellency to prevent the adhesion of water droplets and contamination. SOLUTION: The release film is formed on a polymer substrate which has a surface roughness of 5-200 nm and fine unevenness with an S/N ratio of 5-50 and has a water repellent layer with a contact angle with water of 100-160°and a contact angle with soapy water of 50-100°and which is made of a self-organizing monomolecular film on a non-release surface.
