The turbine finds application in converting the kinetic energy of wind, water streams, and other free-surface and pressure fluid flows with a high turbulent intensity therein and within a wide range of flow velocities. The hybrid vertical-axis fluid turbine (1) comprises one or several blades (2) peripherally mounted around a vertical shaft (3). Each blade (2) resembles a hollow aircraftÆs wing, which is open in its oblong part, the blades (2) being helically twisted around an imaginary cylindrical surface circumscribed by the blades while rotating around the rotor shaft (3) of the turbine (1). The turbine (1) may consist of a multitude of separate coaxial rotors having different diameters and mounted on the same vertical shaft (3) or on two coaxial shafts, the latter rotating in the same or in opposite directions, while the blades (2) may have variable width and profiles along their length.
