PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a run-flat supporting element capable of being easily equipped with a tire even if flatness of the tire is high, and improving riding comfort and reliability. SOLUTION: The run-flat supporting element 1A is composed of an annular outer shell element 2 supporting a tread portion 15 when a pneumatic tire 11 is in a run-flat traveling state, and right and left elastic elements 3 supporting the annular outer shell element 2 on a rim. The annular outer shell element 2 comprises an annular inner layer element 4 having right and left leg portions 4A fixed to the elastic elements 3, and made from stiff material; an outer layer element 5 annularly arranging a plurality of shell pieces 5A made from the stiff material on an outer peripheral side of the inner layer element 4; and a diameter expanding means disposed between the inner layer element 4 and the outer layer element 5, and expanding the diameter of the outer layer element 5 outward in a diametrical direction.
