PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator capable of preventing an erected column from being damaged and deformed by preventing collision of a carrier against the erected column when carrying the carrier out of a car room through a doorway. SOLUTION: This elevator provided with the erected column 1b for partitioning the doorway of the car room 1 to carry the carrier out of the car room 1 through the doorway is provided with a guide rail 3 provided on a floor 1c in the vicinity of an inner side of the doorway of the car room 1 so as to come in and out to guide the carrier into the doorway and a driving device 4 provided below the guide rail 3 to move the guide rail 3 in the vertical direction.
