A broadcasting signal receiver and a channel searching method thereof are provided to execute broadcasting mode switching and channel selection automatically according to a key input time, thereby improving user's convenience. A channel searching method for a broadcasting signal receiver comprises the following steps of: determining whether a digital TV selection command is inputted more than a critical time while viewing an analog broadcast(S230); determining whether there is a digital TV channel corresponding to a currently viewing analog TV channel when it is determined that the digital TV selection command is inputted more than the critical time(S260); and selecting the digital TV channel when there is the digital TV channel and selecting a neighboring digital TV channel of the digital TV channel when there is not the digital TV channel(S270,S280).
