PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus, which can correspond to substantially frameless printing because the width of a margin (no-printing portion) formed on the tip part of a printing medium and necessary for separating the printing medium from a belt of the fixing device after fixing is extremely narrow, can smoothly separate the printing medium from the belt because the printing medium is not further heated by the belt after fixing and is suited also to high-speed printing. SOLUTION: A fixing belt 5 is stretched between a heat roller 4 to be heated by an eddy current formed by a magnetic field generating coil 3 and a core 2 and a pressure member 6, a pressure roller 7 is rotatably installed in a position wherein the pressure roller 7 is pressed to the pressure member 6 through the fixing belt 5 to form a nip part 9, and a radium of about 2mm is formed at the terminal part of the nip parts 9 of the pressure member 6. Consequently, a printing sheet 10 to which fixing processing is applied can be smoothly separated from the fixing belt 5 at the terminal parts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
