The method involves selecting (S1) a code word according to a driving program from a code word memory. The code word is evaluated (S2) by using a preprocessor. The non activated engine control options are filtered (S3) in preprocessors. The activated engine control options are retained (S4) in a code word memory. The resulting driving program is fixed (S5) in series program mode. An independent claim is also included for the control system for controlling a driving program of engine control.
