PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera capable of obtaining color image of a higher picture quality with a proper S/N ratio at a lower illuminance. SOLUTION: The video camera comprises a monochrome imaging means for obtaining a monochrome imaging signal, a monochrome imaging driving means for driving the monochrome imaging means, a monochrome signal processing means for separating and outputting a brightness signal from the imaging signal by the monochrome imaging means, a color imaging means for obtaining a color imaging signal, a color imaging driving means for driving the color imaging means, and a color signal processing means for separating and outputting a color signal from the imaging signal of the color imaging means. In addition, the video camera comprises a brightness determining means for determining brightness based on the imaging signal from the monochrome imaging means and/or the color imaging means. In the video camera, the monochrome imaging driving means and/or the color imaging means driving means is controlled so that a signal accumulation time duration of the monochrome imaging means and/or the color imaging means is varied, according to the determination result of the brightness determining means.
