PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire conductor for an automobile which is excellent in terminal insert property, terminal bonding force, and workability. SOLUTION: The electric wire conductor for an automobile consists of a plurality of twisted hard wires, with tensile strength 600 MPa or higher, longitudinal elasticity modulus 110 GPa or higher, and conductivity 60% IACS or higher, which contains copper alloy drawn in cold work by 99% or higher, containing any one kind selected from among Mg:0.2-0.65 mass%, Ag:0.2 to less than 1.0 mass%, Sn:0.2-0.75 mass%, and Zn:0.2-1.0 mass%, with a remainder consisting of substantially Cu and inevitable impurities. The copper alloy is preferred to contain O<SB>2</SB>by 150-400 ppm. The cross sectional area of the electric wire conductor is preferred to be 0.03-0.22 mm<SP>2</SP>.
