PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of stably outputting good images by preventing the temperature rise of an intermediate transfer belt without making the apparatus large in size, even in the case of continuously printing images on both sides at high speed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is configured so that toner images formed on a plurality of photoreceptor drums are successively and primarily transferred onto the belt 1 in each primary transfer part T1 between each drum and the belt 1, thereafter, the plurality of toner images on the belt 1 are secondarily transferred altogether onto the recording material in a secondary transfer part T2, wherein one of a plurality of rollers stretching the belt 1 is a pressure roller (1d) that pressurizes the belt 1 inward from the image carrying surface side so as to wind and bend the belt 1, the pressure roller (1d) has a hollow structure so as to be cooled, and the pressure roller (1d) is arranged between the secondary transfer part T2 and an intermediate transfer belt cleaning device 18 for removing the toner remaining on the belt 1 after the secondary transfer.
