There are provided a radio video transmission system and method capable of performing preferable video transmission by switching the radio frequency band and the video data compression ratio even when the radio environment is deteriorated. A transmitter (10) for transmitting video data in a radio environment and a receiver (20) are used in a pair. A status message is periodically transmitted from the receiver (20) to the transmitter (10). When reception of the periodic status message by the transmitter (10) has failed, this functions as a trigger for the transmitter (10) to switch the channel (radio frequency band) and the video data compression ratio. Even when the radio environment is remarkably deteriorated, it is possible to switch the radio frequency band and the video data compression ratio of the transmitter (10) and the receiver (20). |
