PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely restore data by a simple method even when the number of repositioning operations is reduced as much as possible and power is reduced during a process to improve efficiency of write data from a host in a tape storage device. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a nonvolatile buffer memory for storing a plurality of sets of data, write data received from a host and a tape mark indicating the end of the write data constituting one set of data; and a storage means for continuously storing the other set of data in the nonvolatile buffer memory when the data volume of the plurality of sets of data stored in the nonvolatile buffer memory does not reach the predetermined capacity of the nonvolatile buffer memory. When the data volume of the plurality of sets of data stored in the nonvolatile buffer memory reaches the predetermined capacity of the nonvolatile buffer memory, the plurality of sets of data stored in the nonvolatile buffer memory are written in a tape.
