TOLL COLLECTION METHOD, ENTRANCE TRAFFIC LANE DEVICE AND TOLLGATE SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toll collection technique which allows smooth fee collection, prevents illegal non-payment and is suitable for collecting toll for two-wheeled vehicles.

SOLUTION: The toll collection method comprises the step of determining a type of a vehicle (2) entering an entrance tollgate (3) of a toll road (5); the step of writing vehicle type information indicating the type of the vehicle (2) and an entrance identifier (entrance ID) for identifying the entrance tollgate (3) into a non-contact IC card (1) with a remaining amount of money written therein at the entrance tollgate (3); the step of reading the vehicle type information and the entrance identifier from the non-contact IC card (1) at an exit tollgate (4) of the toll road (5), the step of calculating the fee to be charged to the vehicle (2) based on the read vehicle type information and entrance identifier; and the step of charging a person who must pay the fee.
