PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of safely performing remote control of travel of a robot by displaying an image photographed by a camera loaded on the robot on a screen of a monitor of a remote controller and matching a direction of a forward operation by the remote controller to the photographic direction of the camera. SOLUTION: In a method for performing remote control of a travel direction of the robot 2 which travels by loading the camera 28 which photographs the surrounding of the robot 2 by the remote controller, the photographic direction of the camera 28 is changed to right and left by a camera controller provided in the remote controller, remote control of the travel direction of the robot 2 is performed by a travel operation device provided in the remote controller, the image photographed by the camera 28 is displayed on the screen of the monitor provided in the remote controller, when travel in the forward direction is instructed to the robot 2 by the travel operation device, the robot 2 is controlled so that the travel direction of the robot 2 is changed to the direction matched to the photographic direction of the camera 28 to start the travel.
