PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid actuator capable of curving a curving section or the like of an endoscope easily with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The liquid actuator 31 incorporated within the curving section 13b of an electronic endoscope 10 comprises two liquid chambers 41a and 41b and a connection channel 42 connecting the liquid chambers 41a and 41b. A liquid 44 is sealed within the chambers and the channel. A top surface 47a of the liquid chamber 41a is made of an elastic member 45a that expands and contracts freely. A pair of electrodes 53a and 54a that expands, contracts and bends freely are arranged on the top and bottom surfaces 47a and 52a of the liquid chamber 41a. When voltage is applied via adjustable voltage sources 55a and 55b, electrostatic attraction is generated between the electrodes 53a and 54a and electrodes 53b and 54b. By changing the volume of the liquid chambers 41a and 41b using the electrostatic attraction, the curving section 13b is curved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
