PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal capable of increasing the amount of power generation by a solar panel, without impairing the convenience. SOLUTION: A panel position control section 26 has two power generation modes, namely a normal mode for setting a subdisplay 3 in a visible state, and a power generation mode for setting the subdisplay 3 in an invisible state and giving high priority to power generation by the solar panel 2. When a user is calling (or portable telephone is in open state) in the normal mode, the panel position control section 26 sends the drive request of the solar panel 2 to drive sections 4, 5, for permitting the solar panel 2 to be driven and controls the position of the solar panel 2 so that by maximizing the amount of power generation monitored by the panel position control section 26, the solar panel 2 is moved to the upper side of the subdisplay 3 for shifting to the power generation mode.
