The invention relates to a system for generating electricity from water and compressed air. The system consists of a tank (1) with water, containing an endless link chain (6) stretched between an upper crown gear (5) and a lower crown gear (5a), said chain (6) being fitted with inverted containers or buckets (7) which are filled with air from a compressor through lower valves which enable the containers to float and the pulling power to be transmitted during the ascent to the main shaft (10) on which the upper crown gear (5) is fixed, whereat the kinetic energy produced by the system is recovered in order to be transformed mainly into electricity.
