PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a point search apparatus and method capable of searching for points using the unofficial names of the points without imposing operational burdens on the user. SOLUTION: When no name of a point is selected from within a first list created by a list creating part 5 at the input of the name of a first point from an input part 1, and when a second list is created by the list creating part 5 at the re-input of the name of a second point from the input part 1 within a predetermined period of time and the operation of selecting the name of a point in the second list is carried out, a control part 6 stores the name of the first name in a point information storage part 4 as the unofficial name data of the names of points.
