PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder resin for an electrophotographic toner that exhibits excellent hydrolysis resistance and gives a toner excellent in preservability, low-temperature fixability, off-set resistance and durability even when used for the manufacture of the electrophotographic toner comprising a process of converting a toner raw material into a particle in an aqueous medium, and an electrophotographic toner that comprises the binder resin and is excellent in preservability, low-temperature fixability, off-set resistance and durability. SOLUTION: The binder resin for the electrophotographic toner is used for the toner manufacture comprising a process of converting a raw material component comprised of the binder resin into a particle and is obtained by polymerizing at least a raw material monomer for condensation-polymerized resins and a raw material monomer for addition-polymerized resins, where the raw material monomer for condensation-polymerized resins comprises an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component comprising at least one selected from among alkylsuccinic acids and alkenylsuccinic acids.
