PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a housing holding tool that prevents the occurrence of sudden falling-off of a connector housing, while allowing a terminal metal fitting to be inserted into the connector housing without error. SOLUTION: The housing holding tool 1 includes a tool body 10, a slide member 11, a slide mechanism 12, and a positioning mechanism 13. The tool body 10 is provided with a recess 15 for holding the housing that allows the connector housing 2 to be inserted into it along the direction orthogonal to a leading-out direction K. The slide member 11 is provided with a recess 16 for the housing that has a shape identical with a cross-sectional shape of the connector housing 2 in the direction orthogonal to the leading-out direction K. The slide member 11 is freely slidably provided in the tool body 10 along an insertion direction I of the connector housing 2, so as to allow the connector housing 2 to be freely movable between a storage position where the connector housing is stored in the recess 15 for holding the housing, and an extraction position where the connector housing is extracted from inside the recess 15 for holding the housing by the slide mechanism 12.
