A method for recovering a file is provided to restore the desired position or the files having a predetermined format by recording an event of the file to a linked list in real-time and filtering the recorded file events, and restore the file by providing a recovery application in a DOS(Diskette Operating System) mode. An event for the file is filtered according to a condition set by the user when the file event is generated(S202). A node for the filtered file event is generated by recording and managing a database in real-time whenever the new node is generated(S204). It is checked whether the node to be connected to the generated node is found(S206). The new linked list is generated by storing the nodes after the node to be restored to the database as a restorable point when the linked node is not found(S210). The generated node is connected to the last part of the linked list, which has a matched path, in a file database(S212).
