PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route guidance device which will not give troublesomeness to driver. SOLUTION: This route guidance device, which is mounted on a vehicle, retrieving optimal route to a set destination and displays the route, is provided with a first determination means for determining whether the retrieved optimal route is a detour; a detour reason determination means for determining the reason that the detour is selected as the optimal route, when the optimal route retrieved by the first determination means is determined as the detour; a second determination means for determining whether the detour reason, determined by the detour reason determination means, is to be presented to a driver of own vehicle; and a detour reason presentation means for presenting the reason for detour, to the driver of the vehicle, when the detour reason is determined to be presented to the driver by the second determination means.
