The invention relates to preserving agricultural products, such as berries, fruits, vegetables etc., in such a way that they could be reliably preserved for a long term storage. The inventive method consists, prior to storing agricultural products, in determining the endogenous ethylene content in the products and in holding said agricultural products in a 1-methylcyclopropene atmosphere, the concentration of which is at least by 1.2oe times greater than the concentration of the endogenous ethylene in the agricultural products before the treatment thereof and, after holding said agricultural products in the 1-methylcyclopropene-containing atmosphere for 12-48 hours, in storing the agricultural products at a low temperature in storage houses containing a usual or controllable gas medium. Said method makes it possible to extend the storage time of agricultural products. |
