An apparatus and a method for controlling a contact-type terminal are provided to input contact information in various methods by arranging the contact-type switches in a lattice structure. An apparatus for controlling a contact-type terminal consists of a contact sensor(10), a contact information creation part(30), an LED switching part(40), a control part(60), a storage part(20), and a display part(50). The sensor(10) is composed of contact-type switches(12) and LEDs(14). If a contact-type switch(12) detects a user's contact, the contact-type switch(12) creates a contact signal. Based on the contact signal, the contact information creation part(30) creates contact information. Based on the contact information, the LED switching part(40) selectively switches the LEDs(14) on and off. The control part(60) judges whether the inputted contact information is preset information. If so, the control part(60) extracts a command equivalent to the contact information from the storage part(20) and executes the extracted command. Then the control part(60) displays an execution result through the display part(50) as an image or a moving picture.
