<p>The input unit (4) of a mail sorting system (2) has a conveyor (6). A container sorting-area (14) is provided, extending along the conveyor for a mail container filled with mails (8). A container unloading unit (18) is activated at different places along the container queue-area. A control unit is provided for positioning the container unloading unit in the container queue-area.</p>
