The invention relates to a device for detachably connecting cords, comprising a cylindrical first retaining element (1) for a first cord and a pin-type second retaining element (2) for a second cord. The second retaining element (2) can be inserted in the first retaining element (1) and can be displaced in an axial direction (A) for connecting and detaching the two retaining elements (1, 2). The second retaining element (2) comprises snap-in elements (30) and actuating elements (35) which, in cooperation with snap-in elements (15) present on the first retaining element (1) and guide elements (20), in a stop position of the second retaining element (2), produce a relative movement of the first and the second retaining element (1, 2) in a plane perpendicular to the axial direction (A) for the purpose of connecting or detaching the cords. The invention is characterized in that the second retaining element (2) is configured as a one-piece component having a first area (3) comprising the snap-in elements (30) and a second area (4) comprising the actuating elements (35).
