A horizontal field LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the distortion of a horizontal field caused by static electricity by discharging the static electricity generated in an LCD panel to the outside through an electrostatic preventing pattern, thereby stabilizing the operation of the horizontal field LCD device. A horizontal field LCD device comprises a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) array substrate(60), a TFT substrate(50), and a grounding support(39). The TFT array substrate comprises a lower substrate(41), a common electrode(44), a pixel electrode(49), and an electrode pad(45). The common electrode and the pixel electrode form a horizontal field by being formed in a line on the lower substrate. The electrode pad is connected to a base voltage source. The TFT substrate comprises an upper substrate(31), a color filter(34), an electrostatic preventing pattern(38). The upper substrate is formed in parallel with the lower substrate facing the lower substrate. The color filter is formed on the upper substrate. The electrostatic preventing pattern discharges static electricity generated in the LCD panel to the outside. The grounding support connects electrically the electrostatic preventing pattern and the electrode pad. |
