The present invention relates to 1-(azolin-2-yl)-amino-2-aryl-1-hetaryl-e thane compounds (I) and 1-(aminothiocarbonylamino)-2-aryl-1-hetaryl-ethane c ompounds (II) and their salts which are useful for combating animal pest, in particular insects, arachnids and nematodes. Furthermore, the present inven tion relates to a method for combating animal pests selected from insects, a rachnids and nematodes, and to agricultural compositions for combating anima l pests. Furthermore, the present invention relates to veterinary compositio ns for combating animal pests.
