The invention proposes to combine user authentication and device integrity verification for protecting services accessible via networks. After performing an authentication of a service subscriber and a verification procedure for a device used by the service subscriber a certificate proving both the authentication of the service subscriber and the device verification is generated. This certificate is provided to the device where is can be employed for service access.
