A dual view LCD and a method for driving the same are provided to drive an LCD panel and a switching panel through a horizontal field to achieve a wide viewing angle characteristic. A dual view LCD comprises an LCD panel(40) and a switching panel(80). The LCD panel drives a first liquid crystal layer(30) through a horizontal field, thereby displaying an image. The switching panel is driven in a dual view mode and a single view mode by driving a second liquid crystal layer(70) through a horizontal field. In the dual view mode, the image displayed on the LCD panel is separated and displayed in different directions. In the single view mode, the image displayed on the LCD panel is just transmitted. |
